A 50-year-old farmer of Sabeto in Nadi is the country’s latest drowning victim.

Police say it is believed the man was crossing the Nadi River last Thursday with six other people when he was allegedly swept away by strong currents.

The man’s body was found at Navadrakula along the Nadi River after a search was conducted.

Police say the drowning toll stands at 3 this year and the number is the same compared to the same period last year.
