The Mineral Resource Department’s Seismology unit has recorded a 5.8 magnitude earthquake in Yadua Island, Vanua Levu this morning (3 February 2021) at 8:08:32a.m.
The earthquake was recorded at 88kilometers North-Northwest from Yadua Island, Vanua Levu, 78 kilometres North-Northeast from Yasawa-I-Rara and 233 kilometers North-Northwest from Suva, Fiji.
The Seismology Unit has confirmed that they have received numerous calls from the Northern division (Savusavu and Bua), Lautoka (Williams and Gosling Pte Ltd building) and part of Central Eastern division (Ministry of Economy and BSP life building in Suva) where tremors were felt.
The earthquake recorded this morning does not pose any immediate tsunami threat to #Fiji.
