A 5.3 magnitude earthquake occurred this morning at 8:31am local time – 26 kilometers  North North West from Vunisea Kadavu.

According to the Mineral Resources Department’s, Seismology Unit – the moderate Earthquake with shallow depth – DOES NOT pose any immediate tsunami threat to the Region.

The Department has stated – this serves as a Notification only, and will keep monitoring for any further updates.

Villagers on the island posted pictures on their Social media pages, to share on their ordeals about the Sudden earthquake this morning.
