The Ministry of Health and the Fijian government has spent $406 million annually on the treatment of NCDs and other related ailments over the years.

This was highlighted by His Excellency the President Major General (Ret’d) Jioji Konusi Konrote while officiating as chief guest at the workshop for diabetes patients and care-givers at the Holiday Inn in Suva.

Speaking at the event the Head of State said that he was pleased to note that the primary aim of the workshop was to assist diabetes patients and caregivers in providing a platform for participants to share experiences and provide support to each other.

The event also included a food demonstration by a team of dieticians from the Ministry of Health.
