A 15-year-old student of Korovisilou Village in Serua is believed to be the country’s first death on our road this year.

The incident occurred around midday yesterday when the 15-year-old student was thrown off the horse after it was hit by a moving bus.

According to police the 15-year-old boy was riding the said horse traveling back to Korovisilou Village when the bus coming from Suva in the opposite direction carrying 15 passengers collided with the horse.

Due to the impact of the collision, the horse died instantly while the boy was rushed to Korovisilou Health Center where he later died.
The driver of the bus is in custody as investigations continue.
