RIME Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama handed over Micro and Small Business Grants to over 264 recipients at the Pacific Fishing Company Limited factory in Levuka yesterday.
The MSBG recipients who mostly operate their own small businesses were given $1,000 to grow their businesses further as it is the Government’s intention to give these micro entrepreneurs a ‘leg-up’.
Prime Minister Bainimarama handed over the funds, which is administered by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, to the recipients with most being women entrepreneurs running canteens, bean-carts and even small catering businesses.
The MSBG initiative is an ongoing programme of Government that helps its recipients to grow their business by providing the funding to buy more stock or the purchase of equipment.
Most of the recipients were from Levuka and Motoriki.
