The Fijian government today received an addition of 10.7 million dollars from the Australian government.
Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum officiated at the signing of the Amendment to the Funding Arrangement this morning.
With funding through the Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Australia will further assist the government in its efforts to support our most vulnerable members of society as we respond to COVID-19 and TC Harold.
The top-up funds will be directed towards the Ministry of Women, Children, and Poverty Alleviation.
The funds will be used to support the continuation of social welfare programs for the next financial year.
Minister for Women, Mereseini Vuniwaqa says the funds will go towards enhancing service delivery as well.
The Australian High Commissioner John Feakes commended Fiji’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak and hopes the economy can recover soon.
