Fiji Airports welcomed its first flight into the newly refurbished Bureta Airport Runway yesterday.
Fiji Airports CEO, Faiz Khan said this demonstrates the ongoing commitment by Fiji Airports to provide long term benefit for the people living in remote areas of Fiji through better connectivity.
Khan stated that the Bureta Airport runway was closed in November for runway upgrades.
In 2018, Fiji Airports made a cash loss of $18.9 million in the running of its network of airports at Nausori and the outer islands. The cost of the Bureta runway upgrade was $0.5 million.
Fiji Airports will carry out runway refurbishments in Lakeba, Kadavu and Labasa over the next six months.
