Investigation on American Couple Death May Take Weeks Or More
The Ministry of Health and Medical Services says the investigation to determine the cause of the death of an American couple who flew into the country last month, is still underway and may take weeks or more.
The two US citizens David Paul and Michelle Calanog Paul arrived in Fiji on the 22nd of May.
The Ministry of Health says this investigation is a priority and has collaborated with the US Embassy in Fiji , the Fiji Police Force’s forensics department, the World Health Organisation and the United States’ Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
Five staff who were placed under observation in a hospital as a precautionary measure has been released and are in good health but are still being monitored alongside those who had contact with the couple during their illness.
The Ministry says there is no risk to the public.
The press statement says the Ministry will remain the only source of information for this matter.
