Anthony Still in Police Custody
The emergency tribunal called by the Fiji Trades Union Congress has denied all orders that the Union has asked for.
Meanwhile the Fiji Trade Union Congress – National General Secretary, Felix Anthony is still in Police custody.
The Union’s Board meeting was adjourned yesterday afternoon as the police searched the Union’s headquarters.
Anthony was accompanied by CID officers and the meeting was postponed.
This meeting was to decide whether the Union will go ahead with the protest today as planned or not.
However, Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho said in a press statement issued yesterday morning that the police did not approve their strike application.
Anthony was arrested on Wednesday afternoon after he and a few other unionists were in a tripartite meeting with a Minister.
He was held overnight at the Nabua Police Station and is still being questioned by the Criminal Investigations Department in Suva.
